This is a personal project that I've been working on in my spare time. I'm a huge fan of everything that is real time in game engines like Unreal Engine/Unity/CryEngine.
But I enjoy the same the pre-rendered stuff.
The goal for this project was to improve my surfacing skills which would fit in a cinematic/film production ready environment. I made this asset from scratch except the skull model which is a real life scan data however I had to clean it bake it and texture/shade the skull. I enjoyed every single stage from model/sculpt/bakes/UVs/texturing/shading/shaders/layered-shaders in Maya rendered with Arnold using GPU.
I was inspired by the movie The Man in the Iron Mask 1998. Because I wanted to add a personal touch to it, I did not followed religiously the original mask.
